As a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY), GS-0203-5/6/7, duties include:
- Serves as a final reviewer or processor of actions, which may include but are not limited to:
Research and draft responses to Legislative and IG inquiries, Evaluation Reports (NCOER/OER), accessions, promotions, reductions, discharges, transfers, separations, boards, evaluations, Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP), promotion eligibility, retirement eligibility, and actions that affect eligibility of educational or incentive benefits as well as sensitive, complex cases, which involve:
allegations of inequitable, prejudiced, or similar treatment (e.g. issues of fraudulent enlistment or assignment; removal of military member from active or inactive status). - Identifies gaps or inconsistencies in the record and initiates action or interviews personnel to obtain needed data. Performs personnel and administrative actions related to deployment manning documents and administrative medical processing. - Ensures completeness and proper forwarding of records to appropriate federal recognition boards. Provides advice and guidance to other personnel on actions in areas of expertise, as well as, advice, instructions, and interpretations, as needed, to lower echelons. - Provides support to maintain a variety of automated systems and interfaces used to manage service members both locally and statewide. Reviews transaction reports from previous days inputs for errors, corrects inaccurate data, and resubmits transaction for update to Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) and local databases. -Researches and obtains all necessary, relevant information regarding cases and issues and provides explanations and interpretations of rules, regulations, procedures, and requirements pertaining to actions taken or recommended. Drafts or prepares related correspondence for appropriate signature and enters data in automated systems, as needed. Retrieves data from information sources, both manual and electronic, for use in answering questions, responding to correspondence, or preparing reports or briefings. Prepares General Officer nomination packet. Ensures completeness and proper forwarding of records to appropriate board. Processes Officer over strength/additional Table of Distribution and Allowances (TDA) authorizations. Provides advice, guidance, and training to other personnel on actions in areas of expertise, as well as, advice, instructions, training, and interpretations, as needed, to lower echelons. - Participates in unit Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP), and in organizational inspection program. Provides counseling to service member on available benefits; accuracy of the emergency data and contact information and the accuracy of the DEERS/RAPIDS (Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System/Realtime Automated Personnel Identification System) information; and allows the service member to perform a general review of their record. - Performs other duties as assigned. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:
This is a Title 32 excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. Current permanent and indefinite technicians of the Nebraska Army or Air National Guard; and current Title 5 employees of the Nebraska Military Department who are military members of the Nebraska National Guard. AREA 2:

Current military service members who are willing and eligible to become members of the Nebraska Air or Army National Guard. AREA 4:
All qualified candidates eligible and willing to become a member of the Nebraska National Air or Army National Guard prior to the effective date of hire. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Nebraska Air National Guard. E1;Military Grade inversion within the full time work forces is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of the personnel supervised. Compatibility will be followed in accordance with 32 USC 709(b) and 10 USC 10216 Compatibility requirements must be met prior to appointment to the position. Selectee has 24 months to become qualified in a compatible military assignment. Security Clearance/Background Check requirements:
In order to comply with US DOD requirements and ensure the safety and security of the missions, programs, property and personnel of the Nebraska Military Department, employees must obtain the appropriate background investigation and maintain the level of security clearance assigned to their respective work. Failure to obtain, within one year of appointment, and maintain the designated type of security clearance/background check required for the respective work may result in a job offer being rescinded, separations of employment, or other actions as may be deemed in the best interest of the agency. Prior to appointment individuals must meet the security clearance requirements for the position or submit the required documents of the Nebraska National Guard, Personnel Security Manager for processing the appropriate investigation. Administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
GS-05 - Must have at least 6 months experience, education or training that provided knowledge of general office work which may include but is not limited to:
answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records. Experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work. Experience establishing and retrieving files and information. Experience using common computer software designed for word processing. GS-06 - Must have at least 9 months experience, education or training that provided knowledge of general office work which may include but is not limited to:
answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records. Experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work. Experience establishing and retrieving files and information. Experience using common computer software designed for word processing. GS-07 - Must have at least 12 months experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or laws. Experience that provided a working knowledge of administrative functions. Experience performing personnel transactions. Experience working independently and setting priorities with very little supervisory control. THE MAN YEAR FOR THIS POSITION IS OBLIGATED TO A TECHNICIAN ON MILITARY DUTY. SELECTEE MAY BE DISPLACED UPON RETURN OF THE INCUMBENT OR SELECTEE MAY BE CONVERTED TO PERMANENT APPOINTMENT IF THE INCUMBENT DOES NOT REQUEST REEMPLOYMENT. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
