Product Development Engineer (Fabricated Metal)

Our client, located in Lincoln, Nebraska, has an immediate need to fill the position of Product Development Engineer (Fabricated Metal).

Job Description
The Product Development Engineer position is responsible for designing metal fabricated aftermarket truck parts. This includes but is not limited to activities such as conceptual design, dFMEA, prototype design and testing, final design, etc. It also includes fabrication related tool design, such as cut-off fixtures, drill fixtures, weld fixtures, etc. This position will work closely with Operations, Supply Chain Management, Quality, Integration, Supply Management, Innovation, and After Market Truck.

Leads and manages multiple design projects and priorities concurrently.

Duties and Responsibilities
o Needs to be organized, good at project planning and able to work in a team setting to keep people on task in order to meet deadlines.
o Must be creative and able to design product that will meet customer needs with minimal information. Has an understanding of the trucking industry.
o Proficient in Pro-E solid modeling and converting solid model data into detailed drawings.
o Must understand drawing BOM and part numbering schemes.
o Must understand correct application of tolerancing.
o Has the ability to solve technical problems and provide solutions to meet customer requirements.
o Lead development meetings as needed to support product design phase.
o Lead prototype builds, testing and customer fit ups.
o Manage costs associated with each project.
o Work with external suppliers as needed to augment both design and prototyping activities.
o Technical project management as related to design activities.
o Builds and fosters positive working relationships with both internal departments and suppliers.
o Could potentially come in contact with hazardous chemicals.

Qualifications
Expected: Four year Technical Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, proficient in Pro-E, and 3 years fabricated metal product design experience.
Preferred: Advanced degree, Finite Element Analysis, 5
years of experience and after-market truck product design experience. Previous experience in leading teams, tool design experience, with SolidWorks, and 6-Sigma - particularly FMEA. Knowledge of metal fabrication, coating, plating processes and how they impact design.

To be considered for this position, the candidate must possess these
Qualifications:
o Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related.
o Proficient in Pro-E.
o 3
years of fabricated metal product design experience.
o Finite Element Analysis experience preferred.
o After-market truck product design experience is a plus.
