Job Description
Responsible for leading facility compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations, including EPA, ISO 14001, OSHA, as well as established internal company standards. Develop, monitor and submit reports and work instructions associated with air emissions, hazardous waste management, waste water treatment, emergency response, OSHA recordkeeping, compliance EH&S training, industrial hygiene auditing, respiratory protection program, and ergonomics improvement planning. Lead the incident investigation and injury prevention process, lead an EH&S continuous improvement process, conduct machine safety assessments including guarding and LOTO best methods. This position consists of 60%25%20environmental and 40%25%20health and safety management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Provides Plant Management with information and knowledge to ensure that they are able to comply with their statutory and Company health and safety responsibilities
Plans and implements safety policies and procedures to enable plant to comply with local, state and federal occupational safety and health (e.g., OSHA) rules and regulations and Tenneco health & safety standards
Plans and implements the environmental management system and ensures that environmental risks are properly managed.
Implements procedures and process with respect to fire prevention, ergonomics, industrial vehicles and materials handling, chemicals and hazardous materials handling, hazardous energy control/Lockout-tagout, machine safeguarding, confined space entry, electrical safety, etc.
Develops and implements employee training programs covering the EHS programs, procedures and process and with respect to regulatory training requirements (OSHA, ISO, etc.)
Conducts work environment inspections and risk assessments to identify existing or potential safety and health hazards, develops recommendations for corrective actions, and follows-up to ensure actions have been properly implemented.
Ensures that potential physical and chemical exposures to health hazards are identified and adequately evaluated and controlled.
Facilitates and acts as technical expert in the the investigation of EH&S incidents and ensures transparent root cause analysis of such incidents.
Maintains all necessary and required EHS records.
Evaluates trends with respect to injury rates and develops reports (e.g., BOS charts).
Helps to facilitate the implementation and execution of the behavioral safety process
Facilitates the plant health and safety committee.
Required Skills
Strong leadership, communication, teamwork, and presentation skills are required as this individual will interact and lead hourly and corporate employees. Organized, accurate, and precise record keeping is essential for this position. High energy and ability to operate in a pro-active, creative manner is important. Computer skills in Word, Excel, and internet systems are a must. Ability to recognize production imperatives but resist any pressure to compromise safety. Self-initiative and the ability to perform the functions with minimal supervision. Creative and innovative spirit.
MINIMUM JOB
Qualifications:
Bachelor s or associate degree in a related discipline and 1-2 years related experience.
Minimum 3-5 years related experience and/or training in lieu of the degree. (Experience and skill level will determine grade.)
Solid knowledge of OSHA, EPA and state/local environmental regulations
Experience in implementing the ISO 14001 standard.
Practical knowledge and application of ergonomics and behavioral safety.
Ability to analyze issues, develop solutions, and effectively implement solutions.
Required Experience
1-2years of experience managing the requirements listed above as well as a Bachelor's degree in a related field. CSP or CIH certifications desirable.
