__Position Summary__
Supplier Quality Technician is involved in the entire course of manufacturing. May analyze and/or inspect components before assembly, analyze trial products during development or test finished goods. SQT records and analyzes the results in order to decide whether to accept or reject specific products. Technicians use this data to solve production issues and recommend improvements. Other duties include preparing inspection plans, training inspectors and evaluating quality cost.
__Responsibilities__
Monitor product quality, measuring key characteristics of a process by sampling parts and analyzing trends.
The quality technician helps collect data or measure parts as part of continuous improvement, First Article Inspections, and/or qualification of new suppliers.
Support any measurement duties needed in resolving problems, such as analyzing returned product and determining disposition (Material Review Board). Work with Production Scheduling to order replacement parts as needed.
Track and report on data for metrics maintained for Supplier Performance Score Cards.
Communicates data via various types of graphs and charts.
Drive down scrap and rework costs by initiating and completing data driven improvement projects.
Provide technical assistance to Suppliers in resolution of problems detected by using the Supplier Corrective Action Report process, based on the 8-Disciplines of Problem Solving methodology.
Assist in resolving Product Holds, Deviations, and Supplier Return requests.
Provide support to Supplier Quality Engineer on improvement or cost reduction projects
Frequent contact with Quality Department.
Frequent contact with Production Departments.
Frequent contact with Purchasing Departments.
Frequent contact with Design Engineers.
Frequent contact with Process/Manufacturing Engineers.
Occasional contact with Suppliers per the direction of the Supplier Quality Engineer.
__Required Skills & Experience__
Understanding of total quality control concepts, inspection methods, data collection, application of sampling plans, quality cost and quality audits.
Experience in blueprint reading
Strong communication skills.
__Nonessential/Preferred Education, Skills & Experience__
Associate Degree in Quality Assurance Technology or Manufacturing and Engineering Technician
ASQ Certified Quality Technician
SAP knowledge a plus.
Sharp eye for error and strong problem solving skills.
Experience using calibrated measuring equipment, gauges or inspection fixtures, integrated circuit testers, etc. helpful.
Ability to interact with all levels of management and capable of making sound decisions and recommendations without the presence of supervision
