Certified Medical Assistant (NHI- Lincoln Cardiology Clinic, Full Time - 80 hours / 2 weeks, M-F Days)-1400009049
Performs designated patient care and clerical activities according to established department policies, procedures and standards of practice to ensure patient physical and psychological well being. Occasional travel may be required.
Prepares patient for examination and/or treatment by taking patient histories and vital signs and making sure all necessary paperwork is complete and available for consulting physician or Mid-Level Provider (MLP).
Coordinates and conveys physician and patient schedules and other related information as appropriate.
Assists in patient education and answers patient questions appropriately.
Maintains patient files, records and other information as required for the clinic. Screens phone calls and acts appropriately in emergency situation.
Documents pertinent patient information in medical records and maintains timely, complete documentation in other areas of record keeping.
Assists consulting physician or MLP as requested.
Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment used for treatments.
Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies, materials and cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies and requests more as needed.
Performs electrocardiograms.
If certified assists with medication refills.
Screens and directs pharmaceutical representatives appropriately.
Maintains "Universal Precautions".
Collects blood samples by venipuncture and finger-stick.
Inspects, adjusts, tests, and calibrates laboratory equipment.
Assists with updating lab operating procedures as needed.
Enters and updates patient information into the lab computer.
Labels and ships specimens to contracted laboratory.
Observes quality control and quality assurance procedures and takes necessary steps to correct deviations to policy and procedure manual.
Assists with treadmill stress tests as needed by obtaining vitals, documentation, EKG monitoring, etc.
Works with patients on the drug assistance program.
Participates as a team member and providesleadership to colleagues, students and other team members to ensure that workloads are distributed fair and equal and that our number one goal of providing excellence of service and care to our patients and their families is accomplished everyday.

Requires certification as a Certified Medical Assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or a National Certified Medical Assistant through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); or active registration as a Registered Medical Assistant by the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment. (Certification must come from the American Heart Association.)
Medication Aide registration from state of Nebraska is required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Knowledge of general clinic practices and procedures.
Knowledge of medical skills and terminology as learned in accredited Medical Assistant program.
Knowledge of phlebotomy skills.
Knowledge of patient safety procedures, common safety hazards and precautions.
Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction in English.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Ability to communicate with patients, families and team members in a manner which promotes dignity and respect.
Ability to perform computer tasks at a user level

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
