Louisville SRA, 15810 Highway 50 in Louisville, Nebraska Examples of Work The Park Superintendent II assists the Park Superintendent with carrying out a management program for Louisville State Recreation Area which includes provisions for administrative support, interpretation and visitor services, maintenance, cultural and natural resource management and visitor protection.
The incumbent will supervise and carry out various park operating tasks involved in campground and day-use area, operation and maintenance, to include the following:
Division and area promotion; traffic control; area patrol and foster compliance of park rules and regulations; fire suppression; equipment, grounds and facility maintenance and repair; and, the operation of machinery, equipment and tools in performance of duties.
The incumbent will also assist with hiring, training and supervising a seasonal workforce, insuring equal opportunity for all employees supervised; will assist with coordination of park safety programs; will assist with preparation of budget requests for park expenditures and the purchase of supplies and equipment; will maintain records and prepare appropriate reports; will collect fees, accounting for and depositing same; will serve as park manager during absences of supervisor.
The incumbent will also assist in the operation of the Floating Playground with the assembly, daily operations and end of season take down & cleaning.
The incumbent will also assist in the safety and emergency operation of the Floating Playground.
The incumbent may also assist in other Venture Park facilities and activities.
Perform related work as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in park/recreation management or a related field; (wildlife, fisheries, natural resources sciences, public administration, history, cultural resource preservation or interpretation, travel and tourism, and planning) AND two years related experience including one year in a supervisory or lead worker capacity.
Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or related field may substitute for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
OTHER:
Valid driver's license or able to provide independent authorized transportation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of park administration and of the operation and maintenance of park facilities, equipment and grounds and, departmental rules and regulations.
Ability to plan, manage and evaluate park programs, including interpretation and visitor services.
Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain community and public relations with business, special interest groups, and state, local and federal agencies.
Ability to assign and supervise the work of employees; enforce park rules and regulations; maintain records and prepare reports.
