Temporary Community Health Educator - Oral Health

DescriptionThe DHHS Office of Oral Health and Dentistry is seeking a temporary full-time Community Health Educator to assist in coordinating oral health prevention programs and activities across the State of Nebraska.
This is a one-year assignment with possibility for extension.
Examples of WorkThe Office of Oral Health and Dentistry is looking for someone to help coordinate efforts among various groups for oral health prevention programs, represent the Office at community outreach events, and to be a liaison between community members and the Department to promote community health education.
The person will also assist with collecting information and submitting grant applications and assist in the development of contracts and subawards.
Other functions include ensuring the accuracy of reports submitted, performing data entry as needed for dental community prevention programs, and review of invoices to ensure all required reports and documents have been received and are complete.
Travel may be required to attend community prevention program site visits or meetings.
Qualifications / RequirementsREQUIREMENTS:
Post high school coursework/training in community health education, biological science, adult/continuing education or related field AND experience in public/community health education activities with responsibility for:
developing and evaluating health education programs; determining health needs; preparing educational and informational materials, training aids, and presentations; or conferring with individuals and groups to exchange information pertinent to community health education programs.
PREFERRED:
Experience coordinating efforts among various groups to complete tasks, past involvement in public health projects, and prior work with state or federal grants.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to inform and encourage local interest and participation in community health education and prevention activities.
Ability to communicate with individuals and groups to develop and implement community health education programs, design training aids, programs, and presentations.
Have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
Recommended Skills Biology Community Health Data Entry Dentistry Education Health Education Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
