This position will supervise those team members who help customers, process applicant payments, handle phone calls regarding a variety of topics like criminal history background checks, Concealed Handgun and Explosive Permits, Fingerprinting and many others.
Your team will also assist the public with accessing and navigating the Nebraska State Patrol Online Calendar for scheduling fingerprinting appointments, and perform fingerprinting by using the LiveScan device to electronically capture fingerprints.

00 pm Monday -Friday Examples of Work Plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs criminal identification records activities of a defined unit involving four or more professional and paraprofessional staff who work closely with other operational units within the section to process criminal and non-criminal records.
Oversees operation of the Nebraska State Patrol State Headquarters front desk to ensure all citizens receive prompt, efficient and professional service.
Identify and implement process changes to improve efficiency.
Checks accuracy of staff using computed data to identify and trace discrepancies and to verify accuracy, completeness and consistency for data.
Assigns projects to employees.
Uses independent judgement to problem solve.
Completes periodic statistical reports and prepares special reports in response to State Patrol needs or questions from a variety of sources.
Collects and compiles statistical, economic, or administrative data to provide the basis for State Patrol decision making and to provide a basis for assessing the effectiveness of unit and section services.
Supervises or leads other employees outside the assigned unit; trains less experienced workers; performs supervisory responsibilities when the immediate manager is absent or unavailable or in absence of other unit supervisors.
Secures approval to hire and train temporary employees to address peak period backlogs.
Schedules, directs, and evaluates the work of unit employees working with criminal identification records to ensure effective and efficient use of time, equipment, and material, and to provide the records to the requestor in a timely manner.
Supervises assigned employees including hiring, promotion, training, assigning and monitoring work, performance evaluation, and discipline.
Acts as mentor to employees within the section.
Provides procedural and technical training to internal and external parties.
Overnight and out-of-state travel may be required.
Qualifications / Requirements REQUIREMENTS:
Experience supervising, leading, or coordinating other workers, and post high school coursework, training, or experience in criminal justice, business, computer science, communications, accounting, law, data systems management, or related administrative field.
PREFERRED:
Associate's degree or Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, business, communications, accounting, finance, law, data systems management, or related administrative field.
Knowledge of adult learning methods, training or presentations in front of groups, training or experience in operation of personal computers and various computer programs/applications and databases, (i.
e.
, Microsoft Office Software) is desired.
Experience in one or more of the following areas preferred:
customer service, process improvement, criminal justice, criminal records, accounting, finance, auditing, and project management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; time management; being adaptable and flexible; adheres to State Patrol policies and procedures pertinent to the collection and analysis of data; legislation, policies, and standards governing the mission and/or programs of the State Patrol.
Knowledge of the criminal justice system; applicable State Statutes; principles of public information; problem solving and analytical skills a must! Ability to interpret and apply state and federal laws and standards, and State Patrol rules, policies, and procedures with regard to criminal history background and Automated Fingerprint Information System (AFIS) checks.
Summarize statistical, program and administrative data into research reports and publications; apply quantitative methods to analyze and interpret data; identify trends and critical elements of operations for immediate supervisor and other management officials.
