Examples of Work:
Under general supervision, classifies, compares, and interprets criminal and applicant fingerprint impressions using the process identified by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS); performs related work as required. Verify, confirm, or eliminate fingerprint matches by preparing or learning to prepare fingerprints for entry into AFIS. Analyzes AFIS-identified comparable fingerprints and communicates findings to appropriate law enforcement agencies. Enters criminal justice and non-criminal justice fingerprint cards into AFIS; learns to verify image records on AFIS and roll fingerprints. Conduct training on the proper techniques for obtaining quality fingerprints. Perform routine maintenance on AFIS hardware and other equipment used in the fingerprint identification process. Maintains current knowledge of fingerprint classification systems, AFIS, rules of evidence, and the processing of criminal cases through the criminal justice system.
Hours: 8-5, Monday - Friday with flexibility.
Qualifications / Requirements:

Post high school coursework, training, or experience in entering, retrieving, and maintaining information in an automated or computerized record or database system.
PREFERRED: Previous instruction experience; familiarity with the NCIC and Henry Classification System; training in AFIS; Basic FBI fingerprint training and/or FBI AFIS training course with certificate is desirable; college coursework covering fingerprint collection and/or comparison. Also, working knowledge of the State of Nebraska''s computerized record and database systems including; Patrol Criminal History (PCH), Justice System, Record Information Tracking System (RITS), and Nebraska Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS).
OTHER: Regular and reliable attendance is expected. Must successfully complete an extensive background screening prior to being employed which includes completion of a Personal History Questionnaire. Applicants will be screened for a record of criminal activity and criminal history using a fingerprint-based check, before a final offer of employment is made. Applicants must be free of felony convictions, and cannot maintain continuous associations or dealings with persons or groups or organizations that they know, or should know, are persons or groups or organizations under criminal investigation or indictment or who have a reputation for present involvement in felonious or criminal behavior. Selection process will include an interview.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
KNOWLEDGE OF: alphabetical and numerical filing systems. ABILITY TO: communicate effectively, work with minute visual detail; perceive minute differences in fingerprint impressions; understand and follow instructions, establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the law enforcement community and with the public. SKILL IN: entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system; reviewing documents to determine errors and omissions.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
