Examples of Work:
Direct and manage the agency's Hunter Education and Bow Hunter Education programs. Plan and coordinate public and internal agency education functions, research and implement new program strategies to insure that agency hunter/bow hunter education priorities and goals are achieved. Conduct hunter/bow hunter education workshops and seminars. Oversee and direct hunter/bow hunter education volunteer instructors including pre-service certification and in-service training workshops. Maintain all associated federal aid documentation and grant coordination. Participate in various conferences related to hunter education/bow hunter education programs and hunter outreach programs. Prepare portion of division budget request. Assess needs and maintain supply of hunter/bow hunter education program materials. Maintain associated database and prepare reports associated with above duties. Integrate the hunter education program with the agency hunter recruitment efforts. Assist with hunter recruitment and retention programming.
Qualifications / Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in natural resources, education or related fields plus three years of related experience, preferably in outdoor/natural resource education, or wildlife management OR a minimum of seven years related professional experience. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED: Master's degree in natural resources, education or related fields plus three years of related experience, preferably in outdoor/natural resource education, or wildlife management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of wildlife management, state and federal laws, and regulations pertaining to the conservation of fish and game. Knowledge of hunting techniques and with both firearms and bow. Knowledge of shooting a bow and arrow and related equipment including crossbows. Knowledge of shooting range design and operation. Knowledge of firearms and ammunition including a general knowledge of black-powder firearms. Knowledge of current and effective education techniques. Ability to speak effectively before large groups of people. Some knowledge of various shooting competitions including trap shooting and silhouette.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
