Examples of Work:
Manage and oversee the accounting systems including: general ledger, agreements and contracts tracking system, procurement card, budgets, revenue projections, highway funding distribution, journal adjusting entries, and payroll costing. Coordinate all accounting functions including: month and fiscal year closing entries, CAFR adjustment, respond to audit findings, reconciliation of Nebraska Department of Roads to NIS/E1 accounting systems, establish redistribution/additive rates, development of the Department''s budget, forecasting revenue, and highway funding distribution. Ensure compliance with state statutes, state accounting guidelines, NDOR business rules and general accepted accounting principles. Oversee and manages the functions of the Cost Accounting Section.
Qualifications / Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, statistics, economics, business administration or related fiscal field, and two years of experience using professional level accounting practices and associated fiscal systems; including, but not limited to, developing or modifying public accounting systems, performing cost accounting analyses or studies, providing financial management consultation, or directing accounting operations and staff OR Associates degree in accounting, finance, statistics, economics, business administration or related fiscal field, and four years of professional level accounting experience, as described above OR Six years of professional level accounting experience, as described above.
PREFERRED: Experience in Nebraska State Government accounting systems, programs and processes. Five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting/finance and supervision. Proficient in Word, Excel and Access.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of federal and state laws relevant to the accounting function. Ability to hire, supervise, evaluate and train subordinate professional employees. Develop policies and procedures which are consistent with state and federal accounting requirements. Deal tactfully and effectively with state, federal, and local government officials. Evaluate the need for a new financial data processing system. Develop agency internal accounting reporting procedures. Identify and present to management cost/benefit alternatives.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
