Description Benefits Supplemental Questions
Under general supervision of the Clerk of the Court: dockets petitions, lump sum settlements, releases of liability, and motions; receives and files pleadings and other documents; trains new and existing assistant clerks; assigns and reviews the work of the assistant clerks; and, provides support and backup for the assistant clerks. Performs other duties as directed by the Clerk of the Court.
Location and address of position: 1010 Lincoln Mall
Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Advertised salary rate is effective 07/01/2014
Examples of Work:
Docket petitions, lump sum settlements, releases of liability, and motions using the court''s computerized information system. Receive and file pleadings and other documents. Train new and existing assistant clerks. Assign and review the work of the assistant clerks. Provide support and backup for the assistant clerks. Assist in developing and maintaining section procedures. Coordinate the purging of inactive docket records by the assistant clerks and the preservation of the records relating to judicial proceedings of the court. Assist in the development, installation, and operation of the court''s computerized information system. Provide backup for scheduling trials and related travel for the judges of the court including coordinating video conferencing. Provide backup for technical support to users on the court room technology equipment. Order supplies for the Office of the Clerk of the Court and for the judges. Perform other duties as directed by the Clerk of the Court.
Qualifications / Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS: Completion of legal/paralegal course work, or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to enable the individual to perform the duties of the position and meet the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
PREFERRED: Previous court or legal assistant experience helpful. Previous office management or team leadership experience helpful.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of legal terminology and format. Knowledge of court policies and procedures. Knowledge of legal documents pertaining to the court. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures and use of standard office equipment. Ability to type accurately, minimum 55 words per minute. Ability to file and retrieve documents accurately. Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment within a broad framework of existing policies and procedures. Ability to effectively utilize the court''s computer system, and to implement information technology solutions, processes, and procedures. Ability to make and implement decisions effectively in accordance with established policies and procedures. Ability to work on projects with only general supervision. Ability to plan and organize personal work assignments. Ability to plan and organize staff work assignments and to communicate status of assignments. Ability to establish and follow priorities. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions. Ability to provide clear and precise oral and written instructions. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Ability to work in a fast paced, hectic environment, with frequent interruptions. Ability to perform effectively under stress. Ability to attend to detail. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel at all levels and with the general public. Ability to follow established policies and procedures. Ability to comply with established work schedules.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
